How Being “Mommy” Adds Value to Your Resume

Being a stay-at-home mom is not what it used to be; in fact many stay-at-home moms are changing their title to work-at-home mom and even Business Owner. How is it that so many moms are now bringing home the bacon {even if it is bits of bacon} and also staying home?

Mommies can now add titles such as Web Guru, Media Maverick and Brand Builder to their resumes. It is said more and more that "mommy bloggers" are the new media. If you don't believe me, you can read for yourself about how companies like Walmart, Target and even Dyson are using mothers to spread the word and promote their brands. PR agencies have even created “Mommy Panels” to help their clients gain more user insight.

When the time comes for you to enter the workforce once again, your hiatus from corporate America will be full of real life experience. You have an edge that most full time working Moms don’t; you are working first hand with brands that we use daily. They value your time and most of all your feedback. Opportunities are sprouting up everyday and your opinions are not only needed, they are respected.

You are more than just a mom or even a blogger, you are a marketer. Basically, marketing is meeting needs and wants of various people. That sounds very familiar, right? I’ll let you think about that as you feed your baby, console your BFF on the phone and cook dinner all at once. A mommy is the ideal candidate to market almost anything. Women are said to make 80-90% of the buying decisions in the household. We all know at least one friend who is a shopoholic and certainly we know as women how we can persuade our darling hubby to buy us what we want, one way or another.

So, the next time little Joey spills his cereal all over the floor and smashes them into the carpet you can grab your handy vac to clean it up in a jiffy and smile, because it is just another lesson learned and another successful product review to write up. Being a Mommy has never been so glamorous and rewarding.

Pity Party OVER!

Re-energized and re-focused on actually doing what I meant to do with this blog--chronicle my life as a poshpreneur...

The weekend was just funky and today is Tuesday--and still I barely have the energy to write about me. I have been busy writing an article all day that is due July 10th. I say it all the time, I have an easier time helping others. My Etsy boutique is FINALLY getting a change and will be focused on helping others start their boutiques with wholesale lots and PDF tutorials...I will no longer be a full-time crafter!! lol I don't know what to do with my spare time that I used to spend sewing countless blankets but--I am creating some nifty sewing tutorials so that all of you crafty ones can make things to sell!

As always, I have a few secrets up my sleeve--a few surprises and a few announcements...all in good time, people...all in good time.

Sorry, I Suck

Some days I feel like the crapiest blogger--ever! If you listened or tuned in to my show, you know what a terrible weekend I had--broken cars and no sleep...crappy

I have like 4 blog posts in draft mode because I have not had the chance nor the energy to finish them--therefore, I suck.

This blog was meant to be a diary of my life as an entrepreneur who loves fashion and all things stylish and posh--yet, I find myself blogging about bull crap and whinings--you love me still, right? lol

I know that I can be entertaining--I've proven that with my 30-45 minute momtv show...lol again...I'm funny, too! :)~

Just so you all know--I am still very much in love with blogging and the whole social networking scene--I just don't always have to chance to get that point across via blogging. I always have great ideas for blog post but have a hard time finding the actual time to blog--so maybe vlogging is best? IDK--we will try that :)

If you watched the MomTV show today, I owe you a real Dyson review--last minute show location in my sewing studio didn't provide for a very well lit room or good camera angels so--I will be vlogging that soon!

THANK YOU to those of you who still read my blog and come by to visit me despite my ability to remain constant :) LOL

Michael Jackson: An American Icon

I do not care what anyone says--he was a GENIUS and the MAN!! KING of POP and his music was amazing to say the least about it...

I pray that his children will know that he was a great man who had a heart of gold--a genuine person who helped thousands and thousands of people with his music and his money...

He was my "boyfriend" and my huge crush for years--his music always lifts my spirits and always puts me in a good mood--his music inspires me--Man in the Mirror, Human Nature, The Earth Song...have you ever read the LYRICS?

I know that there were less than stellar moments in his life--aint that the truth for ALL OF US?? So who are we to judge and not give this man his proper credit? He was a human, he was a son, a father, a brother...

I am glad that he can now FINALLY rest in PEACE!

This song touched my heart when I was a KID and still touches my heart to this day--if everyone had a heart like this, we'd be better off!

Earth Song--WOW this song still gets me teary eyed! Such a wonderful song

Let's Paint the Town!

If you are reading this post and you are from Johnstown or Gloversville, New York--prepare yourself to be insulted {maybe not} LOL

When I moved here, I knew that it was a small town, an old town, and a sorta "depressed" town--whatever--I am not one to let things get to me and really, the crime rates here are like ZERO! I think the biggest issue here is lame asses calling the cops to report a barking dog. Anyway, I was optimistic considering my home is gorgeous and cost us what a 500 sq. ft. condo would in Cali. The town is as old as dirt and even with all the complaining I can do, it is still safe and nice to live in...lots of sweet old people {I love old ppl--I am weird like that}

My biggest gripe is the lack of pride of ownership. Nearly everyone owns their home here yet about 50% of the homes need a paint job to say the least. Granted the weather here is pretty crazy in the winter, it does cost a small fortune to maintain your property. Paint is not expensive. Considering the instant face life you can give your house by painting it, the return is way worth it.

So, someone must share my sentiments at Glidden because they are holding a NATIONAL FREE PAINT GIVEAWAY

Here is how the free paint giveaway works:

-Register for the Glidden free paint giveaway online at www.glidden.com, or call 1-800-GLIDDEN anytime between June 25, 2009 - July 2, 2009.

-Select from any of Glidden's 282 beautiful (and durable) paint colors.

That's all there is to it! The hardest part will be picking a color for me :)

The Glidden website states that your free quart of paint will be sent to you. It does not indicate if you will receive the actual paint, or a coupon for it's purchase. More details should be released when the promotion begins TODAY!!!

To find a Glidden paint retailer near you, and to take advantage of the Glidden free paint giveaway, visit the Glidden website at www.glidden.com

I know that 1 quart is not nearly enough to finish most projects but, it is a great start! :) Now, I am off to go plaster this all over my town--hopefully some people will get motivated! ;)

The Online Fame Game

CUPERTINO, CA - OCTOBER 14: A member of the p...Image by Getty Images via Daylife

You are gonna laugh at me...I didn't know who iJustine was until just now. I saw a tweet that she gets something like 5-10K clicks when she posts on Twitter! What the hell is she posting?? I checked out her site and she has a bunch of uber annoying songs and crap like that...she's a YouTuber. lol. I'm not hatin'...shoot...any pretty girl that can make a name for herself amongst the sea of pretty girls making vids has my props! And she's wearing clothes! YOU GO GIRL!

It got me to thinking...WOW that would be awesome to get 5K clicks from one tweet...I could really make some money from not only my ad network but just think of the possibilities for sponsors! I'm sure Diane Von Furstenberg would send me some kick butt threads to wear...imagine how my boutique and consulting business would soar...

Then, I stopped and thought about how I probably wouldn't have time to chit chat with my real life friends or bloggy friends...and how right now I have maybe 2 or 3 people who send me hate emails...how many more would I have with thousands of followers and blog readers? What about a break? Surely if you try to take a vacay as a "popular blogger" you are probably screwed because you need that number of visitors to stay high and once I get there...I know that I would be dying to make the numbers bigger and bigger.

So, what is a happy medium? When does being "famous online" cross over to super fame? Like the Dooce's and such...they have to be on TV shows and vlogs all the time. Do they hate it now? When will it end for them? Do they have back up plans?

Just wondering...because I love being home with my kids and the whole reason I started consulting others was to be able to be there for other parents who want to stay home, too. Can you have your cake and eat it too?

I see people like Jon & Kate who went into their show with the best of intentions and then things just fell apart. I would LOVE to have a reality tv show...I always say that, I always tell my husband and he just rolls his eyes. This is such an awesome time in my life and I would love to document it and have it forever. I would love to let others see what I am all about and what I am doing...but, with being on the other side of the camera, what would everyone see about ME that would either make them love me or hate me? Could I deal with that sort of attention, really?

I was approached about doing a series of workout vids for moms. It would be doing dance stuff--totally in my element. I haven't moved forward with that only because of the shear fact I am NOT at all the poster mom for fitness right now and I wouldn't take suggestions from me if I was you...lol...no only that, even if I was totally in perfect shape there is still that vulnerability...

It's a game...it is a game with fine lines and huge rewards as well as huge risks.

Happy Birthday to ME!!!

"Attention Whore" is what I am more commonly known as when it comes to my birthday...not so much this year or any of the years to come...today I turned 29 years old...or as I like to call is "My 2nd Annual 27th Birthday"

I have been bugged out like no other at the fact that my "mid-twenties" flew by faster than I could have imagined...and the fine lines on my forehead are starting to look a tad more creased than fine...not to mention my pores are huge, my thighs have stretchmarks and I get hot flashes and PMS like no other when Aunt Flo comes to town. Waaaaaaaaaahhhh!!!

I'm not writing this post to complain--I actually am decent looking and toning up more and more and, my husband is completely happy with me and my appearance. Its really just the number that makes me looney...29...it's just sitting there teetering on 30. I just have this voice in my head saying 29999999...in anticipation of the 30. I'm insane, right?!?!

My MomTV show debuts Monday--probably today for most of you since it is almost midnight on Sunday night. The show will be at 2pm EST and you can hear it over at http://www.blogtalkradio.com/glamlifemama I will post the video feed here once I figure out that whole thing.

ANYWAY--it was overall a lovely day, really. Being as it was Father's Day my DH and I made breakfast together then went out shopping and got matching tattoos! We got our wedding date in roman numerals. It is a tattoo that we both wanted to get so we figured this was a perfect time to get them and treat each other. {Pictures to come}

I'm looking forward to getting over the shock of the number 29...and enjoying this last year of my 20's...and I know that my 30's have tons of great times in store...right? lol
