MomDot paid for my conference pass...and a few companies were kinda enough to send me small donations in exchange for passing out business cards. I can't let them down. Also, Womb to Bloom is in full effect and I want to share the site {and cookies!} with everyone.
I don't want to go because I honestly don't feel like I am a "mommy blogger" and although I don't know everything there is to know about blogging and social media, I don't feel like that is my path now. I am a writer and an entrepreneur...I don't think I am cut-out to be a contest and giveaway blogger nor am I the type to gush over many products. If I like something, you will know about it but I can guarantee you that I am not going to fall in love with something weekly. I don't think I could honestly love something so much and then fall in love with something else the next week, kwim?
Maybe I am missing the whole concept of BlogHer? Maybe it is more about the networking? Well, I am excited to meet my CrackDot homies and Stephanie from New Baby/MomTV and Maria Bailey and Kim Orlando, and Renee Ross...I'm looking forward to meeting these people that I look up to and admire. I'm looking forward to swag--that's always fun stuff. But, most of all--I just want to be home bound on Sunday morning. That is the honest truth of it all.
I don't know...I'm just not the Mom who needs to get away from the kids. My kids are pretty good kids. Yes, they fight all day and say Mommy 1,594 times a day but, I love them to death and hate to be more than 2 feet from them. My DH is amazing...I can't lie--he's pretty darn awesome and I can't stand to sleep without him. I love my bed. I love the smells of my home and I am sad to be away for 3 nights.
Waaa, waaa, waaaa...I'm going! Yeah, I am going but I am not looking forward to it as much as I thought I would be. Am I alone? Isn't all the hype kinda annoying?

Well, first of all: BlogHer isn't just a MommyBlogging Conference, so if that's not your thing, and if marketing and monetization aren't your thing...then why not attend the Geek Lab techie sessions and improve your technical skillz?
Or attend the Leadership track and hear about how some bloggers are changing the world for the better...here and internationally. Very inspirational stuff. Or check out all of the different Room of Your Own sessions. There are seven track. One is about business, one about MommyBlogging, but the rest? About other stuff and other kinds of blogging...and other kinds of bloggers too :)
Look forward to meeting you.
I'm happy for all my friends that are going but yeah, I am tired of hearing about it. I hope you have lots of fun though! :)
I'm happily attached to my family, too, and hate being apart from them as well. I so understand where you're coming from!
I can relate. A few months ago, Jimmy Kimmel said although he loves his show, his true passion is art and people would think he's crazy, his show is still a 'job' and not his passion. Doesn't matter what you do. If it's not your passion, it's not as fun.
I'll take your place, gladly! I need a vacation.
Do what you feel is right for you. BlogHer may surprise you and be fun & get you some good opps for what you really want to do, like write a book. LOL
I'm sure it will be an awesome time and you'll come home glad you went! =)
That said, I'm not going. Until now, I've been sad about that. But now that it's here, I'm SO relieved about not having to be away from my 10 m/o or my hubs. Like you, I like them and I'd hate to be away from them.
Have a good time! I will be happy to see the hype pass, just since I'm not really a part of it. But on those conference days....BlogHer@Home will be just fine by me! =)
I love you clarissa! I am so excited to meet you.

I am looking forward to coming back to your blog and reading what you thought of it...I sold my ticket bc I was stressing too much about it! next year...next year...
I get you have obligations to a lot of people for BlogHer but there are so many people that would be delighted to take your place.
I think you are going to have a great time and learn about new things and meet new people and take away an amazing experience.
It's always good to get out of your comfort zone for a few days. You will have some great stuff to blog about for those of us (cough, cough) not going. lol
With Blogher just days away, I wanted to check in and see if you were getting excited yet. I'm actually pretty pumped, I don't usually have time to hang out with many moms with work and running a business oh and taking care of the kids, so this is good for me. I hope we meet while there.
I am excited! I am excited to meet you and all of my bloggy friends that will be in attendance. Elisa said it best - there is something for everyone at BlogHer. No need to stick to the Mom Blog track (although I will be disappointed if you don't come hear me speak!) branch out. Did you know there is a room of their own for "Marketing To Women of Color" on Saturday? Yeah, much more to BlogHer than moms. You rock and I am so proud of all of your accomplishments! I remember when this was your baby blog and brand new. Look at you now!
